Yin Yang Yo! Wiki

"You'll pay for this Yang!" -Saranoia, The Hex of the Ex

With an outfit & magic wand for every occasion, Saranoia is a powerful sorceress and mistress of disguise. Deeply misandrist and obsessed with female rights, she is determined to free Yin from studying Woo Foo. She had a terrible childhood (making her motivations for what she does understandable) and always thinks men are like her lazy brother Mark and her boy-favoring wizard father, who she mistakes Yo as, just as she mistakes Yang for Mark explaining why she became the way she did as when she young she appeared to be a genuinely nice child at first at the very least.

History[]

According from Scarf It Up!, when Saranoia was younger, she initially believed she would enjoy her studies assigned from her father only to resent her father's studies. Saranoia believed it was due to her brother Mark having the excessive freedom given from her father and favoring him over her.

In the present timeline, Saranoia wishes to prevent the same fate she believes Yin will go through without realizing she's been self-projecting her issues.

She was condemned to an insane asylum from "The Truth Hurts" to "A Bad Case of the Buglies".

At this point, she's given up being an evil wizard, has had plastic surgery, and is the spoke person for "Repulsix". When Saranoia takes one of her wands, she takes on a set of characteristics and must abide by the rules of the wand, even if it's against her own will. Unlike sone other villains on the show, Saranoia is not pure evil, but she is comically psychotic. She appeared in "Deja Foo", attending the super villains picnic with her surgeries removed and uses weaponry, as opposed to wizardry. She only made 3 cameo appearances in Season 2, which makes many people to believe she has retired.

Her last appearance was in "Yin Yang Who?" when Lina told her to "talk to the hand" suggesting she is trying to return to her old ways.

Background[]

Information[]

Personality[]

Saranoia is an outspoken sorceress who tends to empower women (mostly Yin), and preaches against patriarchy ideals. She displays kindness and slight mercy towards Yin and tries to act as a mentor-like figure around her. She has a sharp tongue and is repulsed when she receives comments that sounds under the impression of sounding bounder-line sexist.

Relationships[]

G.P.[]

G.P. was Saranoia's assistant during the early season. She gives G.P. his own disguise with every wand Saranoia uses. She constantly berates G.P. every time he's the voice of reason in the situation.

Yin[]

Saranoia tends to self-project her trauma onto Yin in disbelief thinking Yin wasn't the favored sibling even though Yin and Yang's sibling relationship was treated equally from Yo. Despite attacking the twins, she gives Yin slight mercy during their fights without fighting back. With every disguise, she tries to pose a mentor-like figure towards Yin to get her to join by her side.

However in The Truth Hurts, Saranoia didn't give Yin pity and threaten Yin during their fight it was her last chance to join her. Her 'relationship' with Yin soured with a restraining order.

Yang[]

While not having fond memories of her brother, Saranoia shows that disdain towards Yang by giving Yin better treatment and deliberately attacking Yang using her magic.

Yo[]

Saranoia doesn't like Master Yo due to reminding her of her wizard father. She detest both Yo and Yang believing they prevent Yin's potential to be free of her Woo Foo studies.

Trivia[]

  • Saranoia's name is a pun on paranoia, which means a person that is irrationally mistrusting of others and/or their motives.
  • In the episode, "Scarf It Up!", both Paranoia's and G.P.'s commentary when she grabs The Snow Wand, seem to suggest that the name "Saranoia" is exclusive to her Snow Witch Form, rather than her real name (Saranoia: "That's what I shall be! 'Saranoia', the Snow Witch!" G.P.: "You could have just said 'Saranoia'. We uh... already get the point that you're a witch made of ice.") This is likely an oversight on the part of the writers. However, another explanation is, that given Saranoia's extreme and boastful demeanor, she simply feels compelled to announce her name while performing certain actions.
  • She resembles a devil because of her horn-like ears and tail with an arrow point at the end.
  • Despite her hatred of males, she does not seem to have any problem with G.P. (a male gnome) helping her making him possibly the only male she does not hate.
    • Additionally, she seems to have an interest in dating certain men, as shown in "The Hex of the Ex".
  • She bears no resemblance to her father or brother, Mark, making it possible her father adopted her. If true, it may at least partially explain why her father favored her brother as her brother looks humanoid (suggesting he is his biological child) while she does not. HOWEVER, it is also likely that she resembles her mother (who was never seen). Given the fact that in the Yin Yang Yo universe children don’t always resemble their parents (i.e Yin and Yang, Carl and Brother Herman, a young turtle named Jeremy who is the son of goblin and a horned creature, etc.) her father could have just favored boys.
